The natural beauty of the rolling Tuscan hills. The history of 290 kilometers of asphalt that, in the 109-year history of the Circuito Stradale del Mugello, have seen the best cars in the world parade and challenge each other. On the list of once-in-a-lifetime things to see – and maybe, why not, take part in it yourself – of a car enthusiast this event occupies the top positions. The appointment is for Saturday, April 29 and Sunday, April 30 (scrutineering will take place on Friday, April 28) and, in its second re-enactment edition, the Circuito Stradale del Mugello already enters the prestigious ACI Sport Italian Epoca Championship.

The race is divided into two parts: the first kicks off from the heart of Florence, precisely from Piazzale Michelangelo, with the regulars who will compete, stopwatch in hand, among the hills of Chianti, Arezzo and places such as Casentino, Poppi and Bibbiena. Sunday’s day, with the start in Piazza dei Vicari in Scarperia and the climbs over the Futa and Giogo Passes, will instead have its epilogue at the Mugello Circuit, where the awards ceremony will also take place. In total, there are 288 km of the race, divided into 90 time trials and eight average trials.

The form of the competition is that of a classic regularity race for historic cars. Approximately 70 cars take part in the Mugello Road Circuit, including such prestigious models as: four Lancia Lambdas (1925, 1927, 1928 and 1929), two of which have CASARO bodies, a 1927 Bugatti 37A, a 1929 Alfa Romeo 6C 1750 SS, a 1930 FIAT 514 MM and no less than two Lancia Aurelia B20 GTs (1952 and 1953).

Road-going GTs produced from 1991 onward are also eligible, falling under the grouping called: Tribute of the Circuito Stradale del Mugello. From this year, participants with this type of car will be able to compete in the Italian Great Events Modern Regularity Championship.

Against the backdrop of such a concentration of passion and excitement, the reassuring presence of ACI Global Servizi – a company of the Automobile Club d’Italia and Official Sponsor of the Circuito Stradale del Mugello – which will provide technical assistance to registered crews through the garrison of ACI Global Soccorso Stradale 803.116 vehicles. With its “Passione d’Epoca” services, ACI Global Servizi is at the side of fans of historic vehicles and at the service of Organizers of races and motoring events thanks to the capillarity of its network of workshops.

The event is the third round of ACI Sport’s Italian Epoca Championship, which also includes the Coppa delle Alpi, the Coppa Milano Sanremo historic commemoration, the Coppa d’Oro delle Dolomiti, the 33rd Gran Premio Nuvolari and the Targa Florio Classica.

Angelo Sticchi Damiani, President of the Automobile Club d’Italia: “In the background is the great history of Mugello Stradale and the exploits of champions and cars from the world’s most important manufacturers. In the foreground the beauty and charm of one of the most prestigious races and its incredibly fascinating route. These are characteristics that have made it worthy of entering the small number of events that make up the calendar of the Italian Epoca Championship, one of the most prestigious series followed in particular by ACI Storico. A demanding race that covers a distance of 290 km, with 90 time trials and 8 average trials. Fruit of the great work done by the Automobile Club Firenze and all the women and men of the local structure of our body. I would like to take this opportunity to emphasize once again how important, for tricolor motoring, the work of the various provincial ACs is also in the field of sports. In this sense I appreciated, for example, the great cooperation provided to us, on this occasion, by AC Arezzo. Of course in the run-up to this extraordinary race one cannot help but thank all the Authorities and Bodies, from the Region of Tuscany to the City of Florence and all the other municipalities crossed by the event. As usual they have been close to us welcoming and supporting us in an exemplary manner. Greetings also to those who will be watching over the progress of the whole thing. From the forces fielded by ACI Sport, from the members of the Race Direction, to the Stewards and Technical Stewards, to the volunteer Route Marshals, in whose hands the fates of the entire event often pass. Finally, I would like to thank the timekeepers and all the law enforcement officers who will watch over the smooth running of the race, and I wish them all good work. Lastly because their role as co-organizers, I would like to thank Scuderia Biondetti for their cooperation and passion they have always shown toward the world of Historic Cars and for their great professionalism and competence.”
